To fully appreciate the fishing potential on Dogwood Creek we make the following recommendations. Click on link to view individual equipment details (note: use your browser back button to return to the Dogwood site from the manufacturers site):
4 weight mid flex 8ft 0in - for use mainly during the spring, summer and fall for dry fly fishing with the following rods matching these requirements perfectly:
Orvis T3 804-2 4-weight, 2 7/8-oz., Mid-Flex 6.5
Orvis
TLS 7114
4
Weight, 2ľoz, Mid Flex 6.0
5 weight mid flex 8ft 6ins - for use at any time of year for dry or subsurface flies but especially useful during the colder months when fishing streamers and nymphs under an indicator. The following rods would be our top recommendations:
Orvis T3 865 5 Weight, 3 3/8oz., Mid Flex 8.0
Orvis TLS 865 5 Weight, 2ľoz., Mid Flex 6.5
A matching reel to the rod you plan
to use with at least 50 yards of backing line. We carry a range of Orvis
reels in our fly shop and would be happy to help you upgrade or choose one.
Weight forward floating line to match the rods noted above and we would recommend the following:
Orvis Wonderline Advantage in an Olive Dun coloration.
5x 9ft Knotless tapered and we recommend the following:
Orvis Super Strong Knotless Leaders for that perfect turnover.
5x monofilament for dry fly presentation and 5x fluorocarbon for use with streamers and nymphs, with the following recommendations:
Orvis Super Strong™ Tippet Material to give a perfect turnover for dry flies and complimenting the Super Strong Leader.
Orvis Mirage Fluorocarbon gives you an edge with subsurface flies in the crystal clear waters of Dogwood Creek.
